A new children's sermon and links to one on Sunday's Gospel!

New Children's Sermon!

Hello my friend!

This week I published a new children's sermon, but it was on a text I missed in Easter Season -- There's already one up on this Sunday's Gospel, and you can find it thought links in this new one..

The new one is John 14:15-25, and of course that means it's from John's fascinating "Upper Room Discourses." I've always loved those chapters, where Jesus gave the Last Supper, washed his disciples' feet, and taught such wonderful things.

A while back my wife pointed out to me that it is kind of odd that most portrayals of the Last Supper show only the Apostles being present -- all boys. It's a Passover Seder, and one naturally expects women to be there. Perhaps women would be more likely to do the cooking, but more importantly because the Gospels are clear about there being women disciples who followed him around.

One actually expects children too, since Passover is a family affair, and there are questions that must be asked by a child.

Well, I went hunting on Wikimedia Commons, and look what I found! At the top of this page, as well as in the post, is a 16th century Last Supper with women featured fairly prominently. Pretty cool, I think. Rounds things out a bit.

Within the post you'll find links to the children's sermon on this Sunday's Gospel, as well as the Monday Meditation on the same.

I'm running rather late, so won't say more today. I'm kind of whipped, after a 6 hour online session on how do do coaching. (Yes, that's a possibility. Feel free to email me!)

Thank you always for reading what I write! It means so much to me.

Blessings,

Gary

New Children's Sermon! Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots Game (CC by Laurie Shaull-SA 4.0) Hello my friend! I was traveling to Gettysburgh, Pennsylvania last week, speaking to a seminary student group and doing a retreat day for a clergy group. Alas, as a result I didn't get you a children's sermon. But here we are in a brand new week, and I bring you one on Sunday's Gospel text. Matthew 20:1-16 is a fascinating parable about God's generosity -- which in conflict with our sense that some should get...

New Children's Sermon! Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots Game (CC by Laurie Shaull-SA 4.0) Hello my friend! Between vacation and other summer things, I ended up taking the month of August off from blogging. Thanks for your patience! Just in time for Sunday I have a new children's sermon for you. There's a link to the older "Monday Meditation" on the same Gospel passage inside the post. It's Matthew 18:15-20, a classic text that has guided the Church for centuries on matters of church discipline....
